It is also known as Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY).Small entrepreneurs used to have difficulty in getting loans for starting a business or for expanding business. Mudra loan scheme has been started to solve this problem. Under Mudra scheme, you can take a loan to start a new business / industry or to expand your old business. Under Mudra Loan Scheme, you can take a loan of up to 10 lakh rupees. These loans can be taken from any commercial bank. You can get service like term loan, overdraft facility or cash credit under PMMY. The Mudra scheme has also given a boost to employment in the country. The thinking of the Modi government at the Center is that in the Mudra scheme, if a person takes a loan to do business, then he gives direct employment to at least three-four more people. This can also help a lot in reducing unemployment in the country.

Progress Of The Mission:-
Under the Mudra scheme, priority is given to women and SC / ST applicants in loan disbursement. So far, loans worth Rs 1,05,272 crore have been distributed under the Mudra scheme.
According to the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) website, in the financial year 2018-2019, 59870318 (5 crore 98 lakh +) Mudra Yojana loans were passed and an amount of Rs 311811.38 crore was disbursed through the loan.
According to the central government, since the commencement of the Mudra Loan Scheme, till now the bank has distributed loans worth six crore rupees to 12 crore entrepreneurs. According to government information, out of the 12 crore beneficiaries of PMMY, 28 per cent or 3.25 crore are doing business for the first time.
